Our Board
Our Board is comprised of directors with extensive experience in mining, particularly in Chile, finance, debt and equity markets and investment.

Mr Paul Davies
Chief Executive Officer
Mr Davies has been CFO of the Company for six years prior to being appointed Chief Executive. He brings an intimate knowledge of Freehill’s activities combined with significant experience in the mining sector from his 30 plus years in the finance industry. During his career, Mr Davies has held leadership roles with many organisations, both large and small, in addition to his finance experience. Most notably, he was Director in Charge of Corporate and Institutional Banking for Deutsche Bank Australia and a member of the Deutsche Bank Credit Committee.
He has been directly involved in over $20 billion worth of transactions involving origination, advising, arranging, structuring, project finance, lead managing, syndication, negotiation, risk management, including servicing many of Australia’s major mining companies. Before Deutsche Bank, Mr. Davies worked for a number of years with both Bankers Trust Australia and Macquarie Bank. Mr Davies holds an Economics Degree from Monash University, has qualified as a Chartered Accountant and is an alumnus of the Stanford Business School.

Mr Greg Hammond
Chief Financial Officer
Greg has 20 years’ experience in audit and corporate accounting in private practice and the public sector in the UK and Australia. In 2013, he established Hammond Consulting to provide outsourced financial reporting and corporate accounting services to small accounting firms and ASX listed entities in a variety of industries including Broo Limited Boadicea Resources Limited, Fitzroy River Corporation Limited, Lifespot Health Limited, Candy Club Holdings Limited, Cobre Resources Limited, Jupiter Energy Limited and West Coast Aquaculture Group Limited. Greg holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Finance) from Swinburne University and has been a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand since 2004.

Mr Tom Sapountsis
Company Secretary
Tom is a qualified lawyer and Senior Associate at GrilloHiggins, a Melbourne-based boutique corporate and commercial law firm, with over 5 years’ experience advising on a range of corporate and commercial matters with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets, including initial public offerings. Tom also provides governance, compliance and corporate secretarial advice across a variety of industries including information technology, mining and resources and media and entertainment. He has a background in business law and commercial litigation which provides him with a broad understanding of the commercial landscape as it affects clients and enables him to assist clients in achieving positive and efficient solutions.

Gonzalo Naranjo Bischof
Senior Geologist, Chile
A qualified geologist, Gonzalo has over 20 years’ experience in the exploration sector and has worked on multiple types of deposits such as porphyry, epithermal and IOCG, mostly in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions of Chile. He has worked at some of Chile’s most significant mining projects including Barrick’s Pascua-Lama project and the Cerro Negro Norte project. Gonzalo was most recently a project geologist at the Cu-Mo porphyry Puquios project owned by Santiago Metals. He brings a full spectrum of geological skills and local knowledge to Freehill.

Ross Corben
Consulting Geologist
Ross is a qualified geologist, AUSIMM Fellow and intermediate Spanish speaker with a 30-year track record of success working in multiple jurisdictions including Peru, Colombia and Chile. He holds Qualified Person (QP) status, and represents numerous companies listed on the Canadian, English and Australian stock exchanges. Ross has worked in exploration, development and mine production environments for international mining companies and consultancy groups including for Metminco Ltd in Chile and Peru, Gran Colombia Resources, Snowden Associates and Straits Resources to name a few.
